Online Vet Services

Telehealth has expanded rapidly for pets. Here's when it works and when you still need a clinic.

Good fits for telehealth

  • Minor skin or eye issues that aren't worsening
  • Behavioral questions and training advice
  • Nutrition and weight management coaching
  • Follow-up after a recent in-person visit
  • "Should I be worried?" triage at 2 am

When you need an in-person vet

  • Any emergency (breathing trouble, collapse, severe vomiting, suspected poisoning) — go to an ER
  • Anything requiring a prescription medication (varies by state)
  • Lameness, lumps, or anything needing palpation or imaging
  • Vaccinations and dental cleaning

What it costs

Typical US telehealth consults run $30–$80. Some pet insurance plans include unlimited virtual visits.
